Maine Homebuyer Classes

Maine homebuyer classes are now available in three flexible formats: instructor-led, in-person or livestreaming online classes, and the self-paced eHome class with a housing counselor consultation. All options provide a certificate valid for two years.

How to Register

Not sure what to do when buying a home? What is all that financial jargon your banker is throwing at you? Penquis is a certified HomeBuyer Education provider for HUD and Maine State Housing Authority. Your certificate of completion allows you to access special loan programs through MSHA, FHA, and VA and is good for two years.

More About Maine Homebuyer Classes

We offer three ways for you to take a homebuyer education class:  in-person classes, livestream, instructor-led classes or online self-paced classes through eHome or Framework.

Please note that Penquis does not provide refunds for homebuyer education classes. If you notify us within 48 hours of your selected class that you are unable to attend, we are happy to work with you to apply your registration to a future class.     Flexible Homebuyer Education Options in Maine

    We’ve adapted our Homebuyer Education into three flexible options for future homebuyers. You can now choose from
    in-person classes,
    livestream classes via Zoom, or our self-paced
    online course.

    Class Pricing and Registration

    In-person and livestream classes cost $31.25 per person and are offered on a variety of dates and times. Please check availability and register using the links below. Your registration is not complete until payment is received.

  • Maine Self-Paced Homebuyer Classes – eHome & Framework Options

    eHome America: Online Homebuyer Education for MaineHousing

    eHome America offers a flexible online homebuyer education class that supports access to MaineHousing programs. The class costs $99 and includes a phone consultation with one of our housing counselors before you receive your certificate. Click here to learn more about eHome America.

    Framework: FNMA-Approved Homebuyer Course

    Framework is another online option we offer. It’s designed for clients using Fannie Mae (FNMA) loan products such as the HomeReady mortgage. This class costs $75 and also includes a required phone consultation with one of our housing counselors. Click here for more details about Framework.

    We are a recognized Bank of America “Connect to Own” Partner. If you are applying for a Bank of America loan, both eHome and Framework homebuyer education classes are accepted as valid certifications.

    You may also be eligible for a matched savings account called a
