Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor is Accepting Applications for their soon to be built Birchwood Avenue Home

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor is searching for a qualified family to partner with us as we prepare to build a Habitat home on Birchwood Avenue in Bangor. The application process is rigorous and includes a visit by two of our committee members at the homes of all finalists. Although we do not have a specific credit score requirement, the families we have selected in recent years have had a score above 600. We ask that you:

1.) Tell us why your current living situation is either unsafe, unhealthy, overly crowded, or too expensive.
2.) Demonstrate that your annual household income falls within 30% - 80% of the area’s median income based on family size. (See table below) And,
3.) Commit to partnering with Habitat for Humanity. If selected, each adult in your family will be expected to invest 200 hours of sweat equity into the renovation of your home (up to a maximum of 500 hours), attend a home buyers education class, and be willing to be featured in any media coverage of the build.

Please include copies of the following for all adults in your family to complete your application:

1. Legal Identification – License, or State I.D.
2. Four current pay stubs.
3. Last two tax returns.
4. Last two bank statements.
5. Copies of any state benefits.
6. Copies of any incoming or outgoing Child Support payments.
7. Copies of all applicable monthly bills, which may include the following:

  • Electricity
  • Heat
  • Rent
  • Credit Card(s)
  • Daycare
  • Cable
  • Home Phone
  • Cell Phone
  • Car and/or Medical
  • Insurance
  • Student Loans
  • Car and/or Other Loans
  • Water and/or Sewer
  • Any other monthly payments
