Job Opportunities for
Low-Income Individuals (JOLI) Grant
MaineStream Finance received a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Community Services, Job Opportunities for
Low-income Individuals (JOLI) Program
to help create and expand child care microenterprises in Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties, Maine, resulting in
job creation. These ventures will increase job opportunities for
individuals with low-income while helping to address child care needs in the region.
The
Early Education Profession Project
will result in at least 32 new jobs over a three-year period including self-employment and employment opportunities
resulting from the expansion of an existing child care microenterprise. All jobs created will be filled by
individuals whose income is less than 100 percent of the official HHS poverty guidelines.
